(right-click to download)Melissa Coppola and Gray Bouchard were sick of being talked over while
playing acoustic shows in crowded Ann Arbor dive bars. The four song EP VIVAT VERITAS (Latin, “long live
the truth”) represents a large stylistic turn from Match by Match’s previous record.
Though their critically acclaimed debut album, American Crowbar, had become an “instant Michigan classic”,
inspiring a staged musical adaptation by The New Theatre Project, they were anxious to move on to a wholly
new creative project. The two retreated to their Ypsilanti basement with amps and microphones, ready to
overhaul any preconceived notions of what the next record would sound like.
